TERRORIST IN OUR MIDST

The recent bombings in Argentina and England along with the latest news about the World Trade Center bomb continue to prove the extensive nature of the Radical Islamic Fundamentalist Terror network.

Unfortunately, those acts and other equally heinous crimes only go to show the accuracy of the Lebanese statements, persistently uttered over the years.

For years, nala has warned that the Fundamentalist movement that began its quest by attacking Lebanon and transforming its occupied territories into terrorist bases would pose a grave threat to all civilized nations.

NALA warned that the occupation and control of Lebanon was not a goal in itself for the Fundamentalists. Rather, Lebanon became a target for two reasons. First, it represented the "Heathen" Western civilization in the midst of what the Fundamentalists consider Moslem land, and as such was deemed the first target in their holy war against Western "infidels". Second, Lebanon provided the International Fundamentalists movement, led from Iran, with a window to the West and access to Israel.

Sadly, in spite of all the proof provided regarding the intentions of those groups, the warnings fell on deaf ears.

Today, after appeasing the Radical Fundamentalist groups by denying the Lebanese the necessary tools needed to safe guard against this eventuality, the U.S. and the West in general faces an extensive terrorist network with operating bases and safe havens throughout the world, capable of striking with impunity at any target.

The narcotics trade and counterfeit printing of dollars are the main sources of funds that support their training camps and logistics. The fact that they operate out of "Occupied Lebanon" provides the main culprits, Iran and Syria, with the diplomatic cloak to avoid direct responsibility.

From this unhindered operational center, the Fundamentalists spread their mayhem internationally. Sudan and Somalia have already come under their control. Egypt, Algeria and others, including the Oil rich countries, are not far behind. Even Bosnia and the Soviet Republics have not escaped the quest for Fundamentalist dominance.

More importantly is that the financial strength and ruthless disposition made Fundamentalism the dominant if not the only organized operation among Moslem communities world

wide. This grants them the ability to operate from within otherwise peaceful communities, eluding authorities and maintaining their potential to strike at the heart of America and the West.

Monitoring the activities of Fundamentalists in our midst and arresting those who commit crimes is a far cry from a real solution. Those operatives are dispensable and easily replaceable. In fact the numbers are growing much faster than our ability to keep up with them.

To kill a snake one must cut off the head, not the tail. The local operatives are but the tip of the Terrorists' tail. Going after Iran and Syria would be ideal, but not currently feasible.

The next best solution, and an extremely feasible one, is to remove the International operation's nerve center in "Occupied Lebanon". By terminating the Syrian-Iranian occupation of Lebanon, The Radical Fundamentalist terrorist network would be denied its main source of funding as well as its training camps and logistical center.

The feasibility of this stems from the fact that the Lebanese would gladly cooperate to the fullest. In fact for two decades they fought alone, and lost the battle due to our unwillingness to support them, and appeasing the terrorist. To rid Lebanon of the occupation by the much larger Syrian and Iranian adversaries, the Lebanese certainly require international support.

For long the West and specifically the U.S. has buried its head in the sand pretending that the problem does not concern us, and that the conflict is indigenous. Americans, believing that they were targeted for their support of countries like Lebanon, seeked refuge from terrorism by abandoning our friends on the front line.

Today, the front line is in our backyards. The terrorists are in our midst. We can no longer ignore the problem. If we do not assist the Lebanese to terminate the terrorist occupation and stem the growth of Radical Fundamentalism, we will be looking at a grim future where bombings terror become a common occurrence.

Should wait for more lives to be lost. The bombing at the World Trade Center was intended to topple the tower killing tens of thousands of people as well as releasing cyanide gas to kill many more in the area. The next time they may not fail to accomplish such a grizzly act.
